Karen Harrison
Karen lives and works in Gillingham and is a member of the North Dorset Group and Red Dot Artists. She produces a wide range of domestic stoneware ceramics including larges dishes, bowls, store jars, jugs, mugs, sauceboats, vases and jardinieres. The shapes are traditional with glazes in soft misty colours of cream, blues, purples and greens.
Karen trained at Harrow College of Art from 1986 to 1988 and was awarded the Windsor & Newton prize for art. A passionate gardener with a background in textiles, these influences are evident in the glaze-on-glaze technique of decorating with Chinese brushes. All work is wheel thrown stoneware, fired to 1,280 C in a gas kiln. Her work is stocked in numerous shops and galleries and she exhibits widely. Some individual pieces are made and all work can be commissioned.
