Rosemarie James

Rosemarie is an experienced studio potter who has exhibited both in the UK and overseas. She is also well known locally as a pottery teacher.

She trained at Wolverhampton College of Art and her early sources of inspiration were Lucie Rie and Hans Coper. However, Rosemarie is especially attuned with the strong sculptural forms of pre-Columbian pottery. This has resulted in a lifetime's exploration of natural organic forms and ancient history leading inexorably to her current passion for sculptured decorative pieces.

Working in high-temperature stoneware, terracotta and porcelain, Rosemarie's stoneware is hard, strong, non-porous, and safe in both an oven and dishwasher. Line, form, texture, light and colour are orchestrated to create a balanced harmony - a product of beauty and a constant source of interest, pleasure and delight.
